Job Description:
*HOURS: ALL SHIFTS – 12 HOUR*
*Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the OPSEU 662 Collective Agreement*
*QUALIFICATIONS:
Addiction & Mental Health Worker Diploma required
Baccalaureate Degree in a health, human or social services discipline an asset
BCLS and First Aid Certificate required
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) required
Recent (2 to 3 years) mental health experience in a clinical setting required
Demonstrated knowledge and specialized training in Mental Health, Crisis Intervention models, Community services, Best Practices in Mental Health required
Recent or previous experience working with community resources, agencies and other service providers required
Demonstrated ability to advocate and refer patients to appropriate resources required
Experience with supporting individuals affected by a variety of crises including loss, violence, abuse, crime and traumatic events required
Demonstrated experience on applicable crisis management theories, approaches and strategies required
Understanding of the legal and ethical issues in crisis intervention practice required
Demonstrated experience with managing aggressive behaviour and superior de-escalation techniques required
Demonstrated experience with trauma assessment and treatment practices required
Ability to perform effectively in the crisis field and apply/practice crisis management in a safe and non-threatening environment required
Experience with suicide assessment and intervention required
Demonstrated ability to manage and support a 24/7 crisis phone line and service required
Proven ability to work independently as well as a member of the team
Advanced Crisis Intervention and Counselling Certificate and/or related certifications an asset
Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (CASP) certification an asset
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
Good attendance and work record required
Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check: recent within six (6) months is a requirement
