Job Description:

Marina Point Village LP is currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time Housekeeper / Dietary Aide. This is a dual role position.

Housekeeper Qualifications:

· Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a retirement home is required.
· Good communication skills, both oral and written are required.
· Good time management skills are required.
· An understanding of effective Infection Prevention and Control practices is required.
· Ability to follow instructions is required.
· Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, kneeling and lifting of objects up to 16 KG (35 lbs) required.
· Availability to work days and for on-call coverage for sick call replacement is required.
· Good attendance record is required.
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
· TB testing is required.
· Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Housekeeper Tasks & Responsibilities:

· Perform cleaning tasks to achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the facility.
· Maintain safe work practices.
· Have a full understanding of and practice Infection Prevention and Control policies.
· Be knowledgeable of and practice the facility’s fire and safety programs.
· Clean and sanitize resident suites and apartments as per the Room Cleaning Checklist.
· Clean suites and apartments vacated by residents and prepare the suite for incoming residents.
· Collect refuse from resident suites, apartments and other areas in the facility and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures.
· Clean and restock the housekeeping carts.
· Complete cleaning of the public/common areas and offices following the facility procedures, task list and schedule.
· Change and remake beds in suites.
· Following procedure, provide bath linens to suites.
· Complete departmental laundry for daily facility use as required.
· Ensure all lights are working.
· Ensure suites/apartments are safe and free from fire hazards.
· Ensure all exterior doors are locked.
· Ensure all exit signs are lit and working properly.
· Ensure all emergency lights are working.
· Report any deficiencies directly to the MES and/or log them in the Maintenance Binder as appropriate.
· Test emergency equipment in suites and apartments on a monthly basis as per policy.
· Report equipment or housekeeping supply requirements necessary for the efficient operation of Environmental Services to the MES/Administrator.
· Monitor inventory and assure safe storage of all supplies.
· Monitor proper maintenance and functioning of equipment and notify the MES/Administrator of the need for repairs as necessary.
· Maintain all required records and reports in accordance with policies and procedures.

Dietary Aide Qualifications:

  • Food service experience.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and Sanitation Code.
  • Willingness and ability to learn.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs, stand for long periods of time and walk short distances throughout the day; ability to tolerate heat in kitchen area.
  • Free from communicable diseases.
  • Food Handlers Certificate and Smart Serve Certificate required.

Dietary Aide Responsibilities:

· Make the dining experience of each resident an enjoyable one.
· Make the working environment for your co-workers an enjoyable one.
· Perform cleaning tasks to achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the dining room and kitchen.
· Maintain safe work practices.
· Have a full understanding of and practice Infection Prevention and Control policies.
· Be knowledgeable of and practice the facility’s fire and safety programs.
· Be familiar with and adhere to food services policies and procedures.
· Report equipment or supply requirements/repairs necessary for the efficient operation of the Food Services Department to the Manager of Food Services.
· Monitor inventory and assure safe and proper storage of all food supplies; contribute to list of required items for order days as necessary.
· Maintain/complete all required records and reports in accordance with policies and procedures (i.e. temperature logs, resident menus, etc).
· Assist Cook with food preparation as required.
· Complete departmental cleaning.
· Be knowledgeable of and practice facility's fire and safety programs.
· Prepare desserts and salads for service.
· Be knowledgeable of all the residents that are on dietary restrictions.
· Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences and outlined departmental procedures.
· Clear tables, load and safely operate dishwasher. Complete manual ware washing as required.
· Adhere to established policies and procedures.
· Work as a team.
