GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
NBMCA's On-site Sewage System program is designed to protect the environment and people’s health and safety by regulating and ensuring compliance with Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) regarding the installation and maintenance of private on-site sewage systems within designated areas of Nipissing District and the District of Parry Sound. Reporting to the Area Supervisor, Parry Sound (I-CBO-SS) you will be conducting inspection of lands currently serviced or proposed to be serviced by on-site sewage systems to ascertain compliance with the provisions of the Ontario Building Code, Municipal By-laws and other applicable regulations and standards.
Post-secondary education in environmental or engineering technology or other closely related field;
Provincial Designation as a Qualified Inspector with the following categories of qualifications:
i) General Legal/Process
ii) On-site Sewage Systems
Proficient in Microsoft applications;
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
Ability to prioritize workload and to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision;
Excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills;
Ability and aptitude for field work;
Standard first aid is required;
Valid M.T.O. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
SUMMARY OF TASKS
Responsible for the review, verification and recommendation for approval to the I-CBO-SS, of all sewage system designs submitted and the inspection thereof to ensure compliance with Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code.
Applications for approval include:
o Sewage System Applications
o Planning Applications
o File Review Applications
o Other land development proposals
Responsible for the investigation of sewage system concerns regarding malfunctioning systems.
Work in a professional manner and provide technical support to the public with respect to requirements of Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code, relevant Municipal By-laws and other applicable legislation.
Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and NBMCA’s safety policies.
Attends building/development, community and other meetings as required.
COMPENSATION: $27.19 to $31.81/hr (35 hr/week)
JOB DURATION: September 8, 2020 – December 17, 2021
(Possibility of a further recurring contract March – December each year)
